Windows Open Source Software

Here are a couple of open source software that I use on my Windows box at work:

  • Firefox 3 – This is a web browser like Internet Explorer that I’ve been using since it was called Firebird. It’s a great browser with lots of themes and extensions to extend the use of the browser! Here are some of my extensions: tree style tab, no script.
  • Thunderbird 2 – An e-mail client that I use to check for my IMAP accounts as well as pop accounts. Works great and I love the extensions that I got loaded: lightning calendar, provider for google calendar, quote collapse, gmailui.
  • 7zip – A file compression and expander that does a great job of replacing the integrated zip/unzip that XP comes with. It supports a lot of compression algorithms and the 7z compresses really well and fast.
