Linux server reboots/hangs

The other day there was a problem with a server that would reboot randomly and occasionally hang. One thing that was done was that memtest+ ran perfectly fine on the server without reporting any problems and that when the top was off, it ran longer without rebooting. The otherday it hung so I looked at the crashed messages on the screen and it looked like it was having problems paging out. Since memtest+ passed just fine, then maybe a dimm slot was bad so I took out the 2 sticks of RAM that were next to the 2nd cpu and turned the server back on. So far it hasn’t rebooted or hung and I even put the lid back on.

We’ll see on this one but so far I have hopes.
